The Tribunal is established under the Salaries and Allowances Act 1975, and has the responsibility for both determining and recommending rates of remuneration for the Governor, Members of Parliament, Judges, Magistrates, the Parliamentary Inspector of the Corruption and Crime Commission, Clerks of the Parliament, Commissioners of the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission, CEOs of local government areas, Members of the Special Division of the Public Service and Prescribed Office Holders.
The entitlements of Former Premiers, Ministers and Members of Parliament are also determined by the Tribunal.
Amendments in 2000 have placed the majority of the Parliamentary Superannuation Act 1970 under the jurisdiction of the Tribunal, including the determining of a new scheme more in line with community standards.
The Salaries and Allowances Act 1975 provides at section 5(2) for the Governor to appoint three members to the Tribunal for a three-year term and one of those members shall be appointed by the Governor as the Chairman of the Tribunal .
| Chairman - Prof Michael Wood: Former Executive Dean, Curtin Business School, Curtin University of Technology. Former Public Service Commissioner 1990-1993. Appointed 8 February 2003. Professor Wood has worked in the private and public sectors, including three years as Public Service Commissioner. This position had responsibility for assessing the classification of senior public service positions and for recommending the remuneration of members of boards. He is familiar with the principles and practices of executive remuneration and has a broad knowledge of local government. He is presently Professor of Management at the School of Business, University of Notre Dame Australia. |

Member - Ms M L ( Margaret ) Nadebaum: Former Principal Methodist Ladies' College, Claremont. Member since 29 October 2002. Ms Nadebaum has worked in the WA public sector for more than 30 years as well as in the private sector. Her public sector appointments included CEO of the WA Ministry of Education and Director of Executive Personnel in the Public Service Commission. In the latter position, she was responsible for the recruitment, selection and terms of employment, including remuneration, of all members of the Senior Executive Service. |
